Radical Restoration hosts its second European retreat in Umbria at Le Torracce, a military tower built in the 1300’s which has been completely and lovingly restored. It sits on a rocky hill 1,500 ft. above sea level and is located along the Franciscan Road (ancient road that Saint Francis used to walk to go from Assisi to Gubbio). This area is rich with paths which can be explored only by foot or horseback.

For this retreat we follow the same deeply restorative and engaging process that has proved so powerful for all our retreats:

Languid morning yoga with Esana Lotfy and guided writing with Susan Reynolds after breakfast. As a special treat, James Dewar leads a morning poetry workshop one day, and will host the final celebration of fresh writing on our last evening.

Afternoons and evenings are free for quiet writing, excursions, exploring, walking, resting, reading…

Le Torracce, our place of refuge and inspiration.

After touring the breathtaking and endlessly fascinating town of Gubbio, our group dined at Taverna del Lupo: http://www.tavernadellupo.it/

Assisi is a small but rich city 9 kilometres from Le Torracce. We loved it so much many of us visited two and three times: http://www.sacred-destinations.com/italy/assisi

Perugia is also close enough for an afternoon of exploration and delight.

There are several options for those who love to hike – some more intense than others. There is a wild, off-road hike as well as many challenging hikes on the quiet roads. The sweet little town of Valfabbrica is a winding, fragrant, flower-lined 3 kilometer walk from the retreat.
